gettin' old
Man, am I getting old! I just spent some time outside doing some much needed and long overdue weed pulling and I am ALREADY sore! I was out there maybe an hour and all I did was bend and pull out some ugly weeds! I don't car what anyone says, exercise does not make me feel better. I always feel horrible after I exercise, ever since I can remember. I know it is a necessary evil but seriously, it IS NOT fun! And those who say it is are LIARS......

Lucky boy
Wow. Seth is one lucky boy. Soon after we got home from school toady, the phone rang. It was one of Seth's friends, a boy named Zach. He invited Seth to go camping with his family for the weekend. The have a camper and they go every weekend when the weather gets nice. I am so happy for Seth. They are the nicest family too. Two boys, one Seth's age and one Hannah's age and both super nice. Actually the whole family is really great. The mom and I have worked together for a couple of years at school and we know both parents from various sports they've been in together over the years. The dad was Hannah's group leader when she went to Mt. Misery back in October. I was thrilled when she came home and told me because I knew she was in good hands for the whole trip. This is a big step for Seth, going away for the whole weekend with another family. I remember when he wouldn't even go to a friend's house for a couple of hours! Now he's going away for a whole weekend!! So cool. Now, if only Hannah were going to a friend's too!!

Bon Jovi Nite
I'm so excited! I haven't watched American Idol in weeks and have no idea who's left or anything but Seth suggested we watch it since nothing else is on. Low and behold, it's Bon Jovi Nite tonight. They're all singing Bon Jovi songs! Mitch is going to be so bummed he's missing this. Good thing I'm taping it for him. I think these judges are tone deaf, I swear. When I think they sound good, the judges hate them and when they sound awful at home, the judges have nothing but praise. Clearly, this is why I will never be America's next Idol!!
Is it Friday yet? I've been fighting a cold all week and thanks to Airborn it hasn't developed into a full blown snot-fest yet but it is still kicking my butt. And Mitch being out of town yet again is not helping matters any. Thank goodness the after-school activities have waned considerably. Tomorrow is the last CCD class and then we will be down to just soccer, Girl Scouts and now, Intramural field hockey every Wednesday. And drum lessons.
Hannah's bed just collapsed!! (Insert joke here) I thought she was coming through the ceiling. At least it's not all the way on the floor. It'll have to wait to get fixed till Mitch gets home. I'd buy her a new bed but she refuses to keep her room clean. I won't even write what I found in her dresser drawers last week when I was getting her packed for her camping trip. She's not getting new furniture until she learns how to clean up after herself.
Getting back to being tired....I can't ever remember being this tired before in my entire life. Or stressed. I guess the kids have never been this busy either. I'm guessing that'll only get worse as they get older. I hate this time of year at work too because everyone is sick, the kids are bouncing off the wall, the adults are all grouchy, all the Aides, shadows, etc are at each other because no one knows what job, if any, they will have next year, blah, blah, blah....I am seriously ready for summer and the swim club!
Time to watch some TV and veg out.......

Dancing with the Stars....
How great is this show? I love it, my kids love it, I even catch Mitch strolling in feom the kitchen to see certain couples! I love Leila Ali's partner, Maksim. SERIOUS eye-candy.....It's so awesome to see celebrities from all different mediums coming together, joking around, doing those group dance numbers. Great family entertainment, which is so rare any more. I feel the same way about "Amazing Race" except that tends to get a little nasty from time to time.

Woohooo....my Catslife Press stamps showed up in the mail today! So cute. And the price is reasonable too. I may have to get a few more.
I am so not trying to get involved in any more shows but I've seen this "October Road" show like 3 or 4 times and it's pretty good. Oddly, this week was the season finale, I think which is weird because it hasn't even been on that long! It borders on hoakey (is that how you spell that?) though sometimes. Good music anyone. A lot of Bruce Springsteen type stuff.
Today was "Take you child to Work Day." Seth came with me and Hannah went with Mitch. I think they both had a good time. Seth got to help with the kids and meet the Spanish and Music teachers at JMT which will be good for next year. Then he went out for pizza with me and the girls and sat in on my workshop and a meeting. Hannah sat in on some conference calls, played on the computer, did her homework, ate lunch in the conference room and met a bunch of people. She was so funny last night. We were in the car on the way to the choir concert and she asked Mitch "What time do you eat lunch? Because I eat at 12:30 and I have snack at 10!" Maybe some of my organizing tendencies are rubbing off an her!! Too bad she hasn't caught the neatness bug yet! Hopefully that will kick in sooner rather than later.

Why are families so impossibly complicated? Seriously. Ideally these are the people that love and support you, that you're closest to. What's it like to be a part of a large family? I can't even imagine. My family pretty much consists of just my sister, my mom and myself. Other people have come, been a part of our family for a short while, and then gone but for the most part it has been the 3 of us. Sadly, we're not what most people would consider to be a close-knit family. Too much conflict there. A lot of stuff has happened over the years. Maybe that's why. Even when you have a big family there seems to be a lot of craziness. What is a NORMAL family? Does it even exist? Being married and having 2 kids feels like the closest thing to an average family. I hope it stays that way. I hope we are still as close with our children when they are adults as we are now.
I actually got to watch an entire black and white movie tonight, almost completely through, without being interrupted with "Can we change the channel?!" I saw the very end of "A Place in the Sun" with Elizabeth Taylor. Interesting. I will have to see it from the beginning sometime. Then I watched all of "Roman Holiday." Old movies are weird. They always seem so overly dramatic, sometimes I want to laugh at inappropriate times! This is probably the main reason I choose to watch them alone! Not that the kids would want to watch with me. They can't at all understand why I want to watch ANYTHING that is entirely in black and white. The closest they've come to watching a movie in black and white is the beginning of "The Wizard of Oz." I once watched "A Summer Place." I think Troy Donahue was in that one. Talk about over-dramatic!! "National Velvet" is going to be on Monday night so I set my DVR to tape it. I've never seen the whole thing, although I have watched bits and pieces and I read the book a million years ago.
Registration for th CK convention at Valley Forge is this week. I think I might refrain from signing up for any classes this time after the experience Christy and I had last year! I read through some of the class descriptions and nothing really grabbed me, which is a good thing. Hopefully I will be able to resist the temptation. I'd like to just go one day, shop and come home. I think I say that every year!!
